MicroPort EP Attends Dunhuang Cardiovascular Disease Forum

2016-12-08 09:36:00      Views:

Lanzhou, China – From December 2 to December 3, Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort EP") attended "2016 Dunhuang Cardiovascular Disease Forum – the Application of 3D Navigation Technology in the Treatment of Complex Cardiac Arrhythmias" that was held in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University in Lanzhou of Gansu Province. In the forum, MicroPort EP live broadcasted procedures using Columbus 3D EP Navigation System ("Columbus"). The forum attracted many renowned domestic and international electrophysiologists to exchange ideas on the latest advancement, new concepts, and hot topics in the field of electrophysiology.

On December 3, under the direction of Professor Yuehui Yin of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Zhiyu Ling, from the same hospital, completed three procedures using MicroPort EP's Columbus, including two in treating supraventricular tachycardia and one in treating atrial flutter, in the Heart Center of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. The procedures were live broadcasted during the Dunhuang Cardiovascular Disease Forum and were reviewed by Professor Ming Bai and Professor Yali Yao of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. Professor Zhiyu Ling also analyzed the three cases in the intervals between operations. He highly recognized Columbus and noted that the system's performance has largely improved compared to that in its clinical trials. He said, with precise navigation and stable performance, the domestically made 3D Navigation System offers a fine choice for electrophysiological surgeons, which is definitely good news for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. Professor Yali Yao, who also has used Columbus, said that 3D navigation systems do improve the success rate of the procedures and shorten the procedure time, compared to 2D navigation systems which most supraventricular tachycardia treatments were conducted with. In the future, 3D navigation systems will for sure take the place of 2D procedures, and the domestically made 3D navigation system will be more favorable in the market as it is more affordable.

MicroPort EP's Columbus was launched in China in early 2016, and its procedure has been live broadcasted in several national level conferences. Its stable performance and reliable operation have been highly recognized by domestic and international electrophysiologists. It is expected that Columbus will further demonstrate its excellent performance over time to serve more domestic and overseas patients with arrhythmias.
